Historic hut, where “Cañas y Barro” and “la Barraca” were filmed, with its orange orchard, at the foot of l’Alfufera and with its own jetty, boat trips and car park. A unique experience in the Natural Park of l’Albufera. Ideal for both social and business events.
In the Albufera Natural Park, a unique space in Europe and a few kilometres from the city of Valencia, we find the Barraca del Palmar – the barraca is the traditional construction of our ancestors. This is the place where the authentic Valencian paella -the “pollastre i conill” paella- used to rest and, above all, where the authentic Valencian paella was cooked. This is why this place has undergone a meticulous restoration, recovering the physiognomy of the traditional cuisine of the Valencian huerta (vegetable garden).
La Albufera is a unique natural park in Europe, a large lake separated from the sea by sandy dunes and a pine forest – the Dehesa del Saler. It is also a transit area for migratory birds and has a high ecological value among its autochthonous species, some of which are in danger of extinction, such as the samaruc.
Grupo El Alto, always faithful to tradition and committed to the recovery of the Valencian natural and historical environment, offers an exciting experience in the heart of the Albufera. In the Barraca del Palmar you can celebrate an intimate wedding or gather friends or work colleagues around a showcooking to learn and perform the genuine process of cooking and tasting a Valencian paella with rice from the Albufera -Senia and Bomba varieties-.
The location of this barraca is really special, proof of this is that it was the setting chosen for filming the series Cañas y Barro, based on the novel of the same name by the Valencian writer Blasco Ibáñez. In the Barraca del Palmar, you can fully experience the sensation of being in one of the most unique places in Valencia, which has become iconic through literature and cinema.
From Grupo El Alto we offer experiences such as the lateen sailing boat trip, wooden boats that maintain and promote the local sport in this saltwater lake next to the Mediterranean Sea. One of the most attractive experiences is the possibility of being picked up and taken from the pontoon of the hut. A perfect place for a baptism or communion with the family, surrounded by the local flora and fauna, the reeds and the ducks that transport us to a haven of peace and tranquillity.
